GSIS and Ma On Shan

WOW!!! I thought I just made a suggestion.

Give yourselves a lot of credit for pushing this through with the board.

Thank you!

A huge thank you nvmom for your inspired idea and encouragement. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say you've single-handedly saved the day.

While we want to build on the Wanchai breakthrough and take the school to a higher lever, the board has some deep soul-searching to do now.

I recall their dogged insistence that all options had been exhausted leaving no alternative but MOS. Unfortunately, much damage has already been done; kids have left the school, morale is at a low ebb after the EGM debacle, and the school's reputation has suffered.

The board's credibility desperately needs to be rebuilt and I feel it should be held accountable in some way.

I shudder to think what might have happened, had you not shown an interest in our plight and made that single post that day. Even then, the idea almost slipped away, but you kept insisting we give it a shot. Thank you again for your incredible helping hand.

I agree with Blue bird that he board reputation has suffered and feel they have not credibility what soever. After all It was parents who saved the day with NVMoms suggestions. In my humble opinion the only honorable thing for the chairman of the board and other members to do is resign. We have a new site, plans for a new school so why should we not also have a new board?

A helping hand, maybe. "Single-handedly saved the day"? This would only be so if nvmom was the parent who secured the new site, and also did it single-handedly. It would mean that everything could be solved simply by posting, making suggestions or even criticisms. If so, I will do a lot of posting, suggesting, criticsing!

I would say that suggesting ideas is a helpful gesture, we all suggest ideas to those we know and even to strangers. But how come such ideas do not bear fruit? How come everyone was still in tears and so worried?

It was most worrying. Neither the board nor parents calling for EGM said they could offer a good site. One side said they MOS was the best, the other side just said "try harder". No solution achieved by either side.

How come no one offered use of a school, or secured use of a site, until now? Because this is the part that is very difficult, if not impossible to achieve. Accusing others is easy.

I would agree that there is no need to thank the board. But big thanks to the mystery parent who helped secure the new place.

Agree generally.

BUT the new board has to be a lot better. Must make sure it is not worse!

Alexander you are not wrong with your conclusions. We would definately need to have a better board getting one that would the same would do not good. I do however wonder if the actions of the board can be attributed to Ulrich Buchholtz in that afterall he is the chairman of the board maybe he should save face and step down?

zeus1, we don't know how the board operated, or failed to, and that is the problem.

Nor do we know anything about the proposed new board, which is a bigger problem. There is certainly no point in making things worse!

Whoever secured the new site should at least be on the board, old or new!

Do we know if this parent is on existing board or proposed new board?

This type of parent will win the hearts of all.

would be hard to find worse board and you are right the board has given no indication of how they operated which it self is a problem

If a new board would be proposed I am sure that the candidates would go through an appropriate expaination and the current board members would get a chance to explain themselves.

It would not be leaping in to he unknown.

This is not about winning hearts but about getting people to do job and finding best to do it. It is our school and our children.

Settling for mediocre is never a good thing.

Parents, who were against MOS, have no trust in the existing board at all.

Parents, who were PRO MOS should be now very puzzled and confused about this sudden change to switch to Wanchai site. How can parents, who originally supported any decision of the board still trusting those board members?

If this situation would happen in any other company, the board would have already anounced their resignation!

Why the board is not showing face?

To be fair, I think the present board should explain themselves and tell the parents how things would change in their attitude and their management skills if they wish.
Then the school community can have some time to think whether they prefer the present board or have a totally new one.
