GSIS and Ma On Shan

Tabby,

If nvmom were sitting on the Board, she wouldn't have drawn our attention to the Wanchai site, would she?

nvmom

I wonder why you are so interested in this debate if your kids are not at GSIS? Have your kids been at GSIS? Are you maybe one of these old guys sitting on the Board forever, having a bad track record of your work there and being really bad in inter-personal skills?

You sound like that.

If not, I would like to know where your kids are going to school and what your motivation in this discussion is?

nvmon,

You are not nosy. You are just being helpful. The fact that you are not connected to GSIS makes you even more so. Thank you for your contribution!

and btw, the reason why I am interested in this thread is because I am nozy, as simple as that :-)

Great news MOS is not going to go through and another site has been identified and signed off by the board.

I aplaud the fact that the board have managed to react so decisively and finally do what is best for the school and the school community. They utilised the help of the parents and parents connections to be able to get things done and done right.

I am glad that this issue has now been put behind us but once we are all done patting each other on the back there are still in my mind at least a few questions that need to be answered.

1) why did it take such a concerted effort by parents to convince the board that they needed to do something for the best of the school and the school community?

2) why did the board allow such a rift to develop between parents and the school and continue with the we know best attitude throughout the entire debate, and to think that it was only a small splinter group that was oposed to the move? This sense of denial was unbelievable.

this leads me to the final and last question

3) is this the right board to take the school and the school community to the next level after it allowed such events to occur on their watch?

I understand that there is a movement to have members of the board replaced for the better of the school and maybe this is something that we need to consider and think about. This could be the opportunity for a board to be assembled that is well connected and in tune with the needs of a vibrant excellent international school such as GSIS. We may not need to replace the whole board but should at least consider what benefits could be derived from injecting new life in to a board that seems to be slightly divorced from reality.

I am sure that you will all make your own minds up about this.

This is the last posting that you will see from me on this forum in that my goal of having MOS dismissed has been achieved. I would like to thank the more than 14k readers and everyone that has contributed to the forum.

Wishing everyone the best of luck.

Genome.

I am hearing that the school site was found by parents and not the board. the board always said that there were no alternatives and that there never were going to be. Guess they did not do all the due dilligence and exhaust every avenue as they have said they did. Go figure!
