Information sharing about ESF application

I just got an email acknowledging our application for year 1.

This is what it says:
10 October 2008

Dear Parents,

We thank you for applying to the ESF for a place in Year One in an ESF school in August 2009. We wish to advise on the next steps in the application process.

Applications received at ESF Centre on or before the Year One deadline of 30 September 2008 will be drawn randomly by computer to determine the order in which the applications will be processed. Applications will then be sorted by category and priority within category. First offers for interviews will go to those in category one. Within each category those with a priority will be processed first.

To remind you that the priorities are:

? those with siblings in an ESF school
? those whose parents are former students of an ESF school
? those attending ESF Kindergartens (for Y1)

The individual ESF schools according to zone will inform you by letter whether your child is offered an interview in late November. Interviews will take place in the period 5 January to 6 February 2009, (excluding the holiday week 26-30 January).

Please also note, dependent on applications received there may be a need for school re-zoning to balance numbers across schools.

As we have limited spaces, those not offered an interview are placed on the waitlist according to their category and the number they are drawn.

i didn't think we got it, then i checked with my husband, whose email address was listed first on the email contact line. they only send it to one email contact, so check all your email accounts, and double check with your husband...

i didn't know we had received the email until i told him about this thread and mom2sofie&twins' update. and then he said...."ohhhh right, didn't i tell you? they sent it to my email on friday...."

you can call

You can call them. I also did to ensure that my daughter is registered. They were more kind than I expected. E-mail is not
100%.

I had to call them today and they sent me the email 10 minutes later (rolls eyes).

Now the big wait for interview dates (gulp!)..................

esf interview dates

this is a great thread! anyone heard about the interview dates yet? my son is in woodland pre-school....apparently the esf guys come over to have a casual chit-chat with the children in woodland prior to the interviews....this is happening in december when unfortunately i had planned to be out of town...now i am worried that my son might be at a disadvantage though the teacher assured me that it does not matter....anyone has gone thru this before pls. advise.....

I've got confirmed that ESF contacted my oldest's preschool (Sunshine TT) as well about a visit. The principal told me they do it every year, to see the classes, what they're teaching, to observe the specific children, etc.

dear mom2sofie&twins, is it possible for u to check with yr principal if it would make a difference in assessment if a child is not in school on the day of 'observation'? thanks
