Hi

I was another person who conceived in first cycle. I also conceived quickly 2y after but miscarried.

BUT I should add that the survey is meaningless. I nmean, I am not sure what is the value of a 'conception survey'. Because many women conceive quickly but this doesn't mean that a future conception will be easy. It also doesn't necessarily mean that the pregnancy will be carried to term and normal.
I think what I'm saying is that conception is only one small aspect of achieving a successful pregnancy. This survey may only serve to upset those who take longer.
Sorry Rani, perhaps there is good reason for the survey??

Whereas it didn't apply to me ( I was lucky to conceive quickly, in the older age group) the average person overestimates how quick it would be.

My friend took 1 year in her secong pregnancy to conceive at aged 39. She thought this was slow. In fact this is not slow at this age.

There are also some women who conceive quickly but miscarry frequently.

So 'quick conception' is not a goal in itself (I'm not saying yopu say it is, I'm just making the point!)

Hpe this buoys up the others.

Happy trying!

Louise,

Sorry if the survey has upset you. The survey, like all our others is simply for gathering data. Yes, conception doesn't always lead to a successful pregnancy. We are assuming that those who have responded to the survey, were successful in carrying their babies full-term.

Happy trying and hope it happens soon.:ttc:

1st cycle with the first baby, and with the second one I we were not sure whether it is time yet for a second baby or we should still wait for several months, so we decided to risk just a bit, i.e we only had unprotected sex a week after the ovulation should have been, and here I am at 16 weeks now.

It took us over 12 months. We started seeing some doctors about it. I went to a specialist about it - she just told me to try using ovulation kits for a few months and come back... we were just thinking about scheduling another appointment to look into alternatives and lo and behold I was pregnant naturally.

It was SO hard for me when people would announce their pregnancies when I was trying so hard... especially people who would complain because they didn't WANT to be pregnant!!

I think I've learnt a lot this past year on ways to improve your chances... and I'd totally recommend ovulation kits - I think that's really what helped us to "time it right"... It can be a long road, trying to fall pregnant... I'm just 5 weeks now - and it's still hard to believe... I had been disappointed so many times before!! I'd think I was late and take a test for it to be negative and my period would start that afternoon. At first, I didn't want to believe that I actually was pregnant because I felt I was setting myself up for another disappointment. I wouldn't believe it until I got the blood test done as well!!

Congrats Nicole! It's so heartening to hear about your experiences. I know you'll enjoy your pregnancy. It's the most magical time and even though it won't seem like it, you'll find that nine months breeze by in the blink of an eye! My nine months felt more like three months. I was working and I wished now that I had more time to enjoy "being preggers." :)

Ectopic the 1st month, pregnant the 2nd month, 4 yrs later (33 yrs young now) been trying 4 months and nothing....I suspect its a little crazy, but I can't help myself starting to feel a little worried.

Am amazed at how many people including complete strangers are telling me that my DS needs a sibling. I know they mean well but of course it doesnt help.

Caught between counting my blessings we were so lucky the 1st time and close friends are childless after numerous treatments.

Why bother what others say? As long as you're happy and your child and family is happy, that's all that matters isn't it? We're planning to adopt and at a workshop that we attended, there was this childless couple that gave up on fertility treatment. They didn't seem to happy when we mentioned that we want to adopt a child not because we can't have our own but because we want to give an abandoned child a family. They looked at us with eyes that seem to say, you can make your own kids but you're not! And to me, so what? I want to help and that's my choice.
