GSIS and Ma On Shan

The individual level of mud slinging started today when the board attacked the competence of the brave individuals who care enough about the school to stand up.

KK Lee is a parent with a child in primary.

Ellen Friedlander is a KPR

Lastly will the school stop using resources that I have paid for to keep sending out the same letter. I have heard about KK LEE by reading the newsapaper, in the first school letter and now again when it was sent today.

Also can the GSIS asministration team focus on running the school and not on the boards campaign.

Much appreciated.

It is sad to see the board is still using the "parent to parent" tactic in this incident. Repeatedly, the school sent out the KK Li's writing and the "letter from supportive parents".
I hope the board can think over the weekend. Who are the "non-supportive" parents then if there are "supportive" ones?
What are they supporting or not supporting? The board? Then why not go back and think what caused some parents' doubts in the present board?
All parents are supportive, or else they would not put their children into this school.
People are happy with the new site but then people lost faith in this management because of what they have said and done for the past 8 months which put most primary school parents' life in nightmares. People have the rights to learn their lesson well and make corrections.
The EGM coming is about doing the right thing at the right time.

I see.

That is why I think all this quarreling should stop and for life to go back to normal.

Isn't it great our kids and us won't have to wake up so early everyday?

This quarreling should stop with the EGM. Once the votes are counted we will all know where we stand and really have the chance to make our choices.

What choices are there to make after the EGM now that we have Wanchai? Prior to that, it was whether to stay at GSIS.

Or do you mean when the EGM is over people would have made known their choices of whether to vote out the board?

In any case, I am relieved that Ma On Shan is out of the picture.

I would like to send a crate of champagne to the great parent who helped.

The egm is to vote on each individual member of the board an if they should stay on the board. This means we chosing who will run development of school project and if we think current board can handle after Ma On Shan debacle they got us in to. I vote know I rather have the Angel I dont know than the devil I do using happy hours words in that they made big mess and ruin reputation of school.

Agreed! I am sooo very relieved too!

It is a mother that made it possible, maybe champagne is not her favourite beverage. I hear her son's name starts with R and is in Mr Benson's class. If I see her I will thank her.

can I just quickly come back to KK Lee?

In his letter he claims to have investigated together with the school and the architects and came to the conclusion, that no other solution but MOS was possible......And now we have Wanchai! Is his statement not again just proof of how incompetent the Board AND KK Lee are? (And how foolish the two ladies are?)
I know he only investigated his own idea of moving everyone around on the Peak Campus while refurbishing. The school and architects then told him that that was not possible because of the construction noise.
He never investigated anything more. But for him it was clear that everything was done and MOS was the only option. How can anybody half-intelligent take this as an argument for the Board and against the requisitionists? After all Wanchai came not from the Board but from the parent's side. This is what the requsistionist wanted all along. A taskforce should be set up to find other solutions. That was always denied by the Board and Green.

We all know that an EGM has been called. We all know that a vote is looming and we all know that there are candidates that have been put forward.

Why should we be afraid of the EGM? We shouldn't be afraid we should embrace this EGM for the opportunities it gives us. This is not about a vendetta against the board or its members it is about getting the appropriate qualified people in place for the future of the school.

At this EGM we will get the chance to chose in that the vote is not to remove the whole board in one go but to vote on each individual member and to make sure we have the right qualified people in place to go forward with the massive redevelopment plans we have.

If you are a present board member there is no shame in standing up and saying "I don't think I have the appropriate qualifications for what is needed now and feel I better serve the school by giving another person the opportunity to share their experience and knowledge for what is needed now". Just like if you are a candidate there is no shame if you do not get voted in. You would have offered your services and expertise and it may be deemed that they do not fit the present criteria of what is needed so be it. You would have at least stood up and offered your expertise for the good of the school.

This EGM gives us a chance as a school community to chose people with the appropriate experiences that are needed to run a project of this size. People who will know what the right questions are to ask and know what pitfalls need to be looked out for.

These candidates are to complement and to work along side people on the board who have the experience of running the school. We need to work together to accomplish this and each party brings something special and unique to the table.

Excuse the analogy but it is like an ambulance you would never expect the driver to do the paramedics job just like you wouldn't want the driver to administer first aid. But together they are a formidable force.

The thing that sadness me most is that people have lost sight of what this is all about. It is NOT about he said she said or about discrediting individuals that is too easy.

This is about our school, our community and our GSIS and collectively as a community deciding what is best and securing the future educational needs of our children. That is the hard part.
