Why international schools such as HKIS and CIS do not accept 'small child'?

My kid was born in Sept...and they refuse the application because he referred as 'small child'...they asked us to apply next year. Why they have this kind of policy similar with local school? Does any international school accept 'small child' except CDNIS?

I would inquire again as I believe the information you received may be inaccurate. My child attends CIS and their cutoff is the summer (July or Aug) so kids that are born in Sept are the oldest in the grade. Based on my experience, I have found that the distribution of kids is quite even so I'm confident they accept younger kids.

In contrast, my other child attends local school and I agree that local schools do not accept younger children. In fact, many kids whose birthday is later than September end up repeating a grade.

Hope that helps!

Are you saying your child is 1 month too young? Or are you saying he/she is well within the acceptable age range but small in size, therefore rejected?
