Tung Chung to American International School, Kowloon Tong

We have recently moved to Hong Kong from India. While we had applied to several schools in Hong Kong for our daughter who is 9, most schools put her on wait list. However we have got an assessment call from American International in Kowloon Tong. On housing, while we are currently in a serviced apartment awaiting confirmation of school, Tung Chung as an area appealed to us for its open space and reasonable rentals. While we see it is quite far from Kowloon Tong (about 26 Kms per google maps) we were keen to know if there are any parents whose children are going to this school from Tung Chung ? Are they using a private bus service since the school to the best of our knowledge does not provide bus service to Tung Chung ? What is the experience with the commute? Does it leave children tired ? Which estates are being serviced by this bus service ? What are their charges ?

There are many schools in Kowloon Tong and given the lack of sufficient good schools in the area many students does travel far to school from Tung Chung. I heard of helpers taking kids to school on the public transport, ppl hiring drivers to take the kids to school, parents themselves driving to take the kids there, and finding private bus company to do so.


I believe there has been a thread on this site 1-2 month ago by a private bus company looking for business so you can search them out. I am not sure the bigger big companies will do it or not, but you can always try. One of them which we're using (servicing HK island route though), is Kwoon Chung Motors, see if you can find them and ask more about possible Tung Chung routes.


Given our age 3 boy just got admitted into a school on HK island, we are moving away from Tung chung. However, for a age 9 child, traveling from Tung Chung to Kowloon Tong is not impossible although it is a bit far. Again, I do see many ppl doing it.

yes there is bus service from Caribbean coast to AIS as some of my friend's kids are going there. You can check with the school for further details.

Thanks. We did go to the school today for assessment and we were told a certain Mrs Wong provides private bus service from Tung Chung to Kowloon Tong however the service is not just for American International but also for some other schools as well. I subsequently spoke to Mrs Wong and she confirmed running the bus facility which has 2 stops in Carribean Coast and that she charges abt HKD 1800 for it per child per month. The bus has a Bus Mother who takes care of the children. I needed some feedback on such private bus operators - Do they prove to be as reliable and accountable as a school bus is ? Can I trust them to take care of my child ?
