AMy daughter born in 2008 will be coming to HongKong from mainland China and will enter K3 in September .The local Kindy I like is located in tung Chung near my workplace and for the first half of the school year that will mean travel each day from causeway bay about an hour and in the second half of term from tsing yi to tung Chung about half an hour by bus.
Are these commute times excessive for a five year old at full day school ?
I need her close to my work as I am a single dad and am concendd the needs time to adapt to canto environment . Currently she attends K2 in China from 0730 bus pickup to 1730 bus drop off with no fatigue .
Everybody is telling me she should attend close to home but I will move mid year from HongKong island to tsing yi can kids change Kindys mid term
Her ability to cope. with daily commute has got me worried .
The tung Chung school looks great and I think she will enjoy it after settling in time .thanks any input

It is very difficult to change to another Kindy mid term. To commute half an hour, I would say, is quite OK. And the idea of keeping your son close to your workplace is a good idea, what if typhoon signal 8 hoisted and the school ask you to pick your kid? And your kid fell sick in the middle of the day and she had to go home ASAP? However, if you have a helper to take care of her, then staying close to home is a better idea.
