Shifting to HK. Need a school admission for my 11 year old for Aug '13

Also I would add Korean International School to your list as well. It's not PYP but have been hearing good things about the school.

I submitted the ESF application today and mailed the Quarry bay school about the details of my application. The admission secretary has told me that right now gotta wait and watch and hope that a place comes up in year 6.

Now coming to other schools - Spoke to CIS , SIS but I was told that the assessments will have written test on Chinese. This rules out both of these schools for my daughter.

I have also written to Kellett ,HKIS, GSIS , CDNIS , FIS but looking at the annual fees I dont think we can afford HKIS, GSIS at all with the kind of registration fees and assessent fees.

I am kinda lost. Please guide on what can be the schools to apply with fees structure in the range of 110K max and more realistic in terms of admission probabilities.

I am applying to Kellett and any feedback on the school is welcome. It looks like a good school from the website and forums.

Thanks ESF mum and howardcoombs for your responses.

ESFMum - Can I PM you ?

CDNIS

Hi, I'm a mum of a 13 year old daughter who currently studies in CDNIS. The school applications are probably finished by now, but if you applied for CDNIS, I would highly recommend this school.

We are a Chinese family from HK, and my daughter started studying in CDNIS since grade 1. I feel that the school facilities are outstanding; probably amongst the best out of all the international schools in HK.

In PYP/Lower school, all homeroom teachers are foreigners, mostly from Canada. Chinese teachers are mostly from Beijing or Taiwan. They are all very professional, friendly and never "too strict".

Since your daughter has an English and French background, I think CDNIS will fit her the best. All subjects except for Chinese (Mandarin) are taught in English in the Lower School until Grade 5, they will start teaching French. Their English level is pretty high. If not all, most students are able to speak fluent English. (My daughter, when she studying in CDNIS in Grade 1, her English level wasn't really good; a lot of "Chinglish". But as she slowly progressed, she could speak fluent English like a native by Grade 3!)
Plus, even if your daughter has never learnt Chinese, the school will provide a Beginner's Chinese class. All Chinese classes are split into different difficulties for students with different Mandarin levels.

Lastly, there are many races in the CDNIS community, some also from India! They will surely accept people from different nationalities, as they like to have variety in the school with a mixture of different cultures.
