Hi,
Has anyone seen a Shepherd costume for a 5-year-old for sale anywhere please? We will need it for a Nativity play.
Thank you.
Sara.

How much time do you have?

Seems like you have 4 options.

1) Get a picture of what you want & measure the child and go to a tailor.

2) Order one online?

3) Get a pattern (or design one) and go to a cloth store and sew one. If you don't feel comfortable at regular cloth shops, try Spotlight at MegaBox in Kowloon Bay.

4) (easiest - works for kids aged 3 - 7)

Get a long sleeved striped or beige man's shirt. Roll up the sleeves a bit and button the shirt & put on the kid. That's your "robe" or tunic. Tie w/ a piece of cloth, an old belt, whatever.

Get a small towel or scarf & place on child's head, tie w/ piece of cloth or string.

Thanks, loupou.

I Google-d 'homemade shepherd costume' and pretty much decided on something similar to your 4th suggestion. So this morning, my boy wore Daddy's long-sleeved brown T-shirt, with the sleeves folded up and a brown belt as a sash. He used his little sister's white diaper cloth (seriously) as a head wrap, and my white hair band to secure the cloth in place. He also wore his black P.J. pants and his own brown sandals. All homemade and contributed by every member of the family. I thought he looked very cute...

Hi Sara,

Glad it worked. I like to keep an old "rag bag" of worn out clothes. We mostly use them for cleaning up spills, but they can also come in handy for making costumes.

A couple of years ago, my son wanted to be The Incredible Hulk for Halloween. An old white shirt of Baba's, torn, old jammy bottoms (too short) made ragged, and green food coloring mixed w/ cold cream smeared over his face and visible skin.

We do have some old black capes that we have bought and re-cycle those for demons, vampires, witches, and such-like.
