I just like to post here for parents who as children like mine with special needs. I have been there done that and it is really overwhelming.

List here are SEN friendly schools as provided by a seminar I went to held at Matilda:

ESF - learning support centre, mainstream with support
Springboard KIS - learning support class
Carmel - mainstream with support
International Montessori - mainstream with support
Hong Kong Academy - mainstream with support
Australian International - mainstream with SEN
Norwegian International - mainstream with SEN
Hong Lok Yuen International - mainstream with SEN
Harbour School - mainstream with SEN
Autism Partnership School
International Christian School - mainstream with SEN

I also like to add to the existing list:
Kowloon Baptist
YMCA International Kindergarten
Anfield International Kindergarten
Small World
David Exodus

I like to say Anfield primary has no learning support in mainstream. They are afraid to take anyone who has mild developmental delays. And excuse is it will cost you HKD 20,000 a month + school fees and your child can only work one on one with a specialist and cannot be integrated in anyway with mainstream classes besides: art and pe???

Norwegian International School Kinder section breaks my heart. I know my daughter is talkative and then they emailed a letter of rejection because she was not socially engaged ... the teacher who interviewed her said she was generous and asked another child who was in the same interview with her to play. And the teacher said she knows all her ABC, numbers, shapes, colors ... and the only thing my girl is lacking is her fine motor skills in pre writing. A bunch of BS. Christian schools ... hmm ... Christian values ... that sounds like false accusations that I have force myself to take.

I do not know why most schools here do not have SEN for native English speakers. There are a lot of issues with the local government to even want to look into support for local permanent residences who has children with SEN needs who are non Chinese or non Cantonese speakers.

I have visited Springboard Project. Very good program but limited space.

I also visited International Christian School. They just started a 3 tier program for SEN which I find every interesting in what they are trying to do. Cooking classes every Friday, swimming classes weekly and with a very clear goal for each students to meet their potential. But currently only one space left for SEN in primary because they can only accept 7 students with their budgets. And I think they still on the learning curve to what they want to do with their SEN program but at least it is a great start for any schools to take on KUDOs for them.

English language is part of the Hong Kong culture besides Cantonese language. I have been speaking to my children when they were a baby in Cantonese, but because they have developmental delays that I had to stop and focus on English because it is much easier for them to pick up especially with my son with auditory processing delay and phonics dyslexia. And the HK government solution is to say learn Cantonese and have they go to a Cantonese speech therapist.

And the solution for parents with autistic children is the same solution for all ... go learn Cantonese and take social skills classes in Cantonese. I mean these are local permanent residences. Just so sad even in a progressive Hong Kong.

This is another update for parents with special educational needs for their child.

I was recommended to visit Hong Kong Junior. The school is currently appointed by once retired ESF principal of Sarah Roe. It is currently catered to children with ASD. The class size is currently small. They are working on getting accredited by the education bureau. It is another option out there for parents to consider.

I visited Autism Partnership School today and I feel very positive about this school. If you have a child with autism and doesn't have a school that supports his/her needs you may want to visit this school. Small class sizes with different level of abilities and grouping. They have a class that supports students that would gear them toward mainstream schools. They have a lot of parents involvements and also in home help for parents, too. Each students IEP are extensive and detailed. And this school is intensive too with not much long holiday breaks.

I spoke to
Kathleen Man - school principal.
Stella Lee - operation manager.

They are currently located at Happy Valley, but they will be moving soon to Ho Man Tin to their new campus.
