Regret from Bradbury, How do I try in other ESF schools?

We received a regret letter from Bradbury school in regard to my daughter's admission (Year 1 in 2012). I wonder if I can call any of the other ESF schools around (Kennedy, Glenealy, Peak or Quarry Bay) to check for admissions. I'll get my daughter in the wait list anyway.

Unfortunately Bradbury and Quarry Bay are heavily over-subscribed this year. Glenealy tends to always be over-subscribed as it is a small school. Not sure about Kennedy or the Peak.

Can you ask what number your daughter is on the wait-list for an interview?

From what I understand, Bradbury try to help out as much as they can, especially if your daughter is Cat 1. I have friends who they found spots for or guaranteed a spot the following year ...
Good Luck!

Thank you both. You are correct... I will have to get my daughter on the wait list. Being Cat 1 I am worried she will lose a year if she does not get through an ESF. I cannot afford to send her to an International School...

My daughter also got a regret letter/wait list from QBS and she is at ESF kindy (Cat 1) .... Really devastated ... wonder if I'm the only parents with kids studying there got this situation ..

You won't be able to enter other schools because all schools are over-subscribed (3000 applications for 1000 spots). I know children who are still on the wait list for Y1 and they'll most likely won't get a spot in Y2 either. You need to find out where you are on the waiting list. If you're in the first 40 or so you may have a chance at some point but last year I knew people who had a place over 100 and it won't happen any time soon. Make sure you apply to other schools and look for back ups because I know many who were in your situation last year, and it didn't happen. This year is worse again.

Are you sure she didn't get labelled as a Cat 2? Sibling group is very large (well over 50% at most schools these days). Call the school and see what the situation is.

Also your child needs to attend at least a part of K1 AND K2 in order to get priority. I had friends of mine moving their children into K1 around April (Term 3) just to make sure to make that cut. Only K2 won't be sufficient to get priority and your child would be treated like a regular Cat 1 child (and there are many of those).

MommyTo3: tht was the problem , my daughter got in for K2 ... And I am really devastated and worried ....

Yes, that's the problem then. She's considered a regular Cat 1 child without any priorities. Call the school to find out where you are on the list. I am honest, none of my friends made it in last year, they were all in the bottom of the wait list. So it's really vital to find out where you are.
