Quarry Bay School vs Kennedy School

My son is 4 & will be going to grade 1 in next year sept. I'm thinking of applying these 2 ESF schools but not sure which one is better. I have 2 homes (and thus 2 addresses) which I can use. I concern on both the hardware (campus facilities) & software (teaching quality, student ethnicity, extra-curricular activities for students after school, etc). Bad comments are most welcome. The deadline for applying ESF grade 1 is this end of Sept. Would anyone help me on this?

Many many thanks!

Thanks, .

So How about Kennedy School? Appreciate very much if you could give me some more comments of the school. QBS is 30 students per class, so how big is the class in Kennedy? For facilities, I know there is no swimming pool for most ESF schools, but it seems Kennedy can use the HKU sports center nearby. Is it true? Some IS do provide once a week compulsory swimming class for the students, as part of their curriculum. How about Kennedy School? Also, what extracurricular activies are provided by the School? Is there any regular Mandarin lesson there? Sorry for so many questions. Your valuable advice is very much appreciated.

Hi all ESF schools are running or moving towards daily mandarin lessons. Since Kennedy and QBS are both ESF schools they will both be doing this, they will also both have 30 children in a class. The curriculum should be similar at both and all ESF schools employ well qualified teachers. You will have to probably email them to find out about swimming and after school activities. I work for another ESF school and our children swim for a 6 week block once a year. We have a swimming pool attached to our school but we share it.
Our extra curricular activities change every year depending on what is offered by staff.
Hope this helps.

All the ESF schools have around 30 kids in the class. It's true the Kennedy kids do swim at Stanley Ho Sports Center. They start from Y2 but last year they let the Y1 swim in term 3. Last year my son had Mandarin twice a week. We haven't received the new timetable yet, so not sure they've increased it to every day. There are lots of activities after school, Mandarin included.

Hi,

Does Kennedy School organise any 'Open Day' during the year to allow outsiders to visit the school, and when will it be? As i cant find this info from their website. Thanks in advance.

I had a chat with the principal of Kennedy when my son started at year 1 in Sept this year. He confirms that the school will do Mandarin daily from Sep 09.

Hi,

Does anyone here know if Kennedy School has any "Open Day" during the year and when will be the next one? Thx...

Sorry they don't do Open Days. You need to apply first and then when you've been accepted, you're invited for a tour. You're then asked to pay the deposit.
