Just read a book and freak out a little so I thought I will ask your opinion...Where do you keep your bottles after sterilized? I take them out and put them together read to be use. But apparently according to the book we have to leave it in the steriliser for 24 hours then after than we have to re sterilise them again!!!!
What do you do? How do you keep the bottle?

I use saran wrap to cover the important bits (e.g. bottle opening, nipples etc.) and then set them aside until I'm ready to use them.

we took them out of the steriliser sometimes.

honestly, if your little one has been fine, then you're ok. the sterilising is to ensure that all the yuckies have been cleaned away properly.

the one thing i WOULD recommend is that you make sure they are completely dry. if they are at all wet inside, then the yuckies will grow very quickly!

We put them on a shelf and don't worry about it. Every kid needs to eat some dirt to make the immunity system work better.
Which is not to say we allow mold and mildew to grow on them. And they are used daily. But we don't treat them any different than our daily drinking glasses.
Should go on to say we also don't use sanitizer gel on every surface before the baby touches it, etc... And the baby has only once gone to the doctor for an illness (in almost 2 years) and that was probably something he caught on the 13 hour plane ride back to the USA.

We assemble the bottles together and put them into the fridge. This is what our health visitor taught us. Being in the fridge, growth of bacteria is slowed down. It does feel a bit strange though as the bottles are actually still wet from the steriliser when they are put in the fridge

A lactation consultant recommended that we shld put sterilised bottles and teats in the fridge - especially during the HK summer as it's very humid and bacteria will grow very rapidly.

I think to put them together and put them strsight in the fridge might be the achievable solution for me. I normally put them together and leave themoutside but I only use 1 bottle a day so that my husband can feed the baby.
I will go away for 24 hours so I need to ensure all the bottles are clean and good to be used while I'm away. Not that I don't trust my husband to clean them properly...I'm just being paranoid, I think. I suppose put the bottle in fridge for more than 24 hours is ok right?

Well, she didn't say how long in the fridge they were good for, but we never re-sterilised the bottles after 24 hours in the fridge and it didn't seem my daughter has any problems from using those bottles.

sought advice from nurses, mid wives, health consultants and doctors - was told its best in the fridge and what we also do is to put the assembled bottles in a dedicated box , and then put it inside the fridge. That way you separate your food from the bottles - unless you have a dedicated fridge for bub's bottles, that is.
