Presentation Skills for older kids

goodbye kitty

I am looking for a group or club for a 13 year old boy who needs to practise presentation skills and public speaking.

Does anyone know of any activities for developing these skills such as a specific course or even a drama/acting club for this age range?

Is there any demand for this type of activity?

Does his school have a debate team or drama club? That would probably be the easiest and most cost effective method.

You could also try having fun at home reading dramatic or interesting things out loud at home.

I think there's a lot of drama classes for kids out there - groups like Faust and so forth - but they are not inexpensive.

His school were less than helpful with this. An independent one would be better for this situation (long story). Where do I start to look for drama classes (like Faust??).....dollarsaver?

Thanks for any help!

Faust is listed on GeoBaby

Also Kids Gallery has a Speech Drama class but I think its for younger kids.

A cheaper option, get involved with HK Youth Arts Festival or even the HK Chorus Society. A good friend had her kids audition for the Musical Annie a couple of years ago and both were selected. It was hard work but they thoroughly enjoyed it and it was FREE.

Also, I recommend for your son to get involved in the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival. It's an annual festival with hundreds of events at the very things you want... practice with presentation and public speaking. And there are prizes. Simply training in public speaking is not as useful as practice in a real competition.

The event starts in October or November, but you'll need to register in around September I believe.
