Mainland Mum in Hong Kong with No ID (yet)

Hi, I am a mainland mum with English husband, and I deliverid in HK, my daughter is turning to 2 now. It was same situation we had, but luckily my husband got insurance to covered private hospital, we applied Matilda when I was 6 weeks pregnant, i didnt have my ID card in that time as it takes so long to apply for, they accepted my passport as a application documents, then I got my ID card when I was 3 months pregnant, so it was all went well.

Just thinking May be you can apply for private hospital now incase that you can't get a spot in public hospital when your wife got an ID card, as it will be too late until her due date?

Or delivery in Shenzhen, you can apply a Depandent visa for your child once she/he born, it takes 4-6 weeks.

Hope that helps, You can PM me if your wife needs any one to talk, it must be so stressful for her.

For UCH - I'm really surprised. On that website the poster is dated 2010, but the ban on mainland mums came in in April this year. The only posters I've seen at UCH are the big pink/purple ones saying they won't accept any non-eligible bookings. And 'unbooked delivery is dangerous!'

OP: there are some places available for non-residents, which is why they have the cost options, but if I remember correctly it's now only 3000 spaces per year.

Op- just saw your post that says your wife will have her HKID in Jan. If this is so then she will we able to register in Jan at a public hospital in your catchment area and pay the same as every other HKID holder.

nicole, no they are not. they can apply for dependent visas only under certain circumstances... hence, all the local men with mainland wives that have to wait 5+ years to live together....

HI Carang , if you had read previous posts you will have noted that I am from the Uk hence my wife is here already on a dependent visa and also has the right to a Hong Kong ID card.

this thread has become so long that it is now going in circles and is not focusing on the main point.

HI Redestiny, even with ID the rules have changed in 2013 and it would be too late to get a place especially with Chinese new year round the corner.
