Hi, I have just been offered a place for my son at the kowloon junior school. Does anyone know anything about the school, what it culture is educational standard etc. My son is presently in a UK preprep school but I think will be pretty adaptable to a new environment> We have seen a number of schools in the ESF system but not this one. Thanks for any thoughts

hi! KJS is a nice school! my son is presently in Y1 and he's doing great! he loves going to school, and he's learnt to read and write since he's been there!

if your son is in a UK preprep school, i dont' think he will have any problems settling in at KJS. they are in the midst of going IB (PYP) and i'm very happy with my son's progress so far.

one thing though - the school will be rebuilt soon and they may be moving to a temporary site for the next 2-3 years - we're still waiting to see where the temporary site will be! but apart from that, the teachers that i've come in contact with are very nice and caring and i've noticed the children and are all enjoying their new school life and learning well.

i think it's worth a visit during a school day to see the atmosphere and feel it for yourself! if you have more specific questions, i'd be glad to answer them to the best of my knowledge!

Any more feedback on this school? Most of the info on ESF schools on this site seems to be for those on HK Island!

hi! my son is now in Y2 and my next son is starting in aug... i've recently spoken with some parents who had kids studying here (some have already gone to KGV - the secondary school) and they all say that they've not had to look into tutoring because the kids have not been able to follow through and it seems that all-round academic achievement is not bad. one of my friends daughters was accepted by UBC in vancouver, canada, with only her y11 grades from KGV (and UBC normally doesn't directly take in kids from HK local schools...) so my guess would be - it's still a good school!

i do go in on friday mornings to help as a mummy helper with my son's class and the teacher keeps close monitoring on all the kid's work and makes sure that they are all on track, with extra help if needs be (KJS has extra help for those children in need) so i'm quite happy so far...

any other more specific questions, just let me know!
