Kellet School - views pls

We have recently been offered a place in Kellett school. We like the school concept and all (playing as priority for young kids) but as we did the school tour...we were shocked that 99% of the students are caucasians. I'm not a racist but being Asian, i'm worried of the racial issues (heard of something similar of racial bully in FIS) that may arise in schools where the blonde hair/blue eyes are the norm. I am NOT saying it is a definite, but i'm worried my girl will get singled out and feel left out. Young kids do not see themselves in different colors but as they get older, they will.

Can anyone pls comment if they know of anything?

Thanks

Congratulations ! I have submitted the application form when my kids were nearly two years old and I was told there might only be space available in P1.

Kellet is a very good school with strong academic and discipline. I never heard of any bullying issues in Kellet. No worries and enjoy the school.

I have heard of a few stories at Kellett too. Last I peeked into the playground, I noticed the younger years seem to have a better mix of students. Also, with the new campus next year, the demographics will have to change.

Academically it seems to be a strong school following national curriculum. I wouldn't rule out the school yet.

I did a school tour in Feb and did not see any such issue in the existing class rooms. Parents in our school tour were mostly non-chinese but that was understandable as most of them were on a See Visit tour of HK.

My (Eurasian) child started in Reception class last September. She's very happy there, made a lot of friends and is taught well there. The school teaches well academically and takes any bad behaviour seriously. Seems to be nurturing and academic in equal measures.

thanks everyone for taking the time out to respond. I feel much better in the racial sense now. So far, i have only heard good things about Kellett...but currently am vexed over other issues. My girl is currently in SIS and she's very happy there. She is in PY1 and homework is still "bearable". Thing is, i have heard starting from P1 onwards things are going to get tough. Lots of homework, assessments, tests, etc. So much so, there'll be no time left for interests classes...thats not what i envisioned the education route for her. Having said that, she loves the Chinese classes there...and have improved tremendously (her chinese) over there. She's a bright and inquisitive child, but also a pretty assertive one. Some commented she ought to stay in SIS for the groundwork and discipline (which i agree to a certain extent) and that it'll set a good foundation for her academic years ahead....problem is, a small part of me doesnt believe that a small kid her age (she's 5) should be rigorously trained academically...learning is supposed to be fun...and i fear that if her primary years are set this way...it'll take the fun out of learning (sooner or later) for her. For now...she does seem to enjoy the homework and learning. But if i take the risk and wait, i am not sure if she's gonna still enjoy it once she hits the primary years. i'd also want her to be in a nurturing (not rigorous) environment where she'll learn to develop an all rounded foundation. Is there a type of personality that'll suit this kind of learning? Do some children really thrive on this style?

We love the Kellett style of teaching but obviously the Chinese is not at par with SIS. Something's gotta give, i guess.

Has anyone heard of students leaving a school and then reapplied back to the school again? Any prejudices or advantages?
