KCIS Primary

Thanks Wegetable, your insight and advice is much appreciated....I will start phoning up the school about 2012 entry while also trying to secure somewhere in 2011. My best bet is the ESF CSS, but as you said, it is not a guarantee. I will phone KCIS (Anita) too on Monday.

hi there,
Please help us! We need to decide soon to secure our place, my child has been offered a place for P4. My child is already in a local school where she had a hard start but seems to be picking up. There are loads of books, heavy on homeworks and long hours in school and at home where we had to employ a math and chinese tutor.
Will there be a considerable difference with KCIS in as much as there is a 70 to 30 ratio bet. english and mandarin?
How much is the bus fee and routes? what are the school hours?we are living in causewaybay.

Thanks >.

KCIS will have a lot less homework and the ratio at P4 is roughly around 70-30.
From CWB a P4 student can easily take public transport to the door of the school. Multiple bus and minibus routes.
School Hours & Student bus : 2570 4594 -- you should call and ask.

Interview

hi All
My son would be going for interview soon for P1. Hope he gets through . KCIS seems to be more traditional school with an international curriculam . So hope we can get best of both worlds

My son went through the local stream of KCIS. Our goal from the outset, was for our son to be fluent in spoken Mandarin and competent in writing and reading (traditional) Chinese, all of which our son has attained. However it is not easy - my wife is Taiwanese and without a Chinese writer and speaker at home it would have been very difficult. The local curriculum is intense and needs discipline and perseverance from both the child and the parents - the kindergarten focusses on vocabulary while there is a notable shift in emphasis to writing and reading in Primary. The teachers are very good, professional and approachable, and are flexible to assist any child needing help. My son is Eurasian with English spoken at home so his vocab and written were never a issue.
