I think every school has it's long and short. It really depends on what you are looking for. No one/no school is perfect, you just have to decide if it fits your needs.

The assemblies at ISF are uncoordinated gatherings of every Primary School kid. They could be dropped and it would be of no loss to the children. Maybe do it once a month.
Funnily enough, the FY kids were taken out of it for a couple of months during the year because of the lengths of time these poor kids had to sit and listen to things that were of no relevance to them.
Don't know why they are now back in the assemblies though...

ECA choices are good and pretty varied. They have a good soccer camp going on with all grades in Primary.

I assume Kalrok is a teacher at ISF. Is it a good school to work in since you said that there are 15 teachers leaving? Will all the changes affect the students? Are there more or less students in the school? I heard that it is expanding. I am not sure if I should put my son there for P.1.

You can assume whatever you want!

Anyway, the teachers leaving are gone mentally already and the kids get new teachers anyway as they go up a year so it won't affect them that much. I hear certain teachers are moving around grades too.

What I do worry about is the major new appointments in admin of the school.

It either will be:

a) great for the school and they will see all the weak points and work together to fix them
or
b) they will all butt heads, go along with the flock and keep on going down the beaten path to not very good things..

I fear the latter but hope for the former

Hi to all ISF parents,

Can some ISF parents especially from secondary gladly share how does ISF doing now in preparation for students regarding university?

Do lot of students applying to UK instead of US university because of their IB curriculum?

Since IB diploma does not guarantee the students into US university, What is the students chance if they are applying to US university?

any information is appreciated!

thanks a lot

thank you

Thanks for the information. I heard much the same and my kids are upper primary age, heading to secondary as we transfer to Hong Kong. Is the school having problems with IB and MYP? What is the status of the PYP program?
What are your thoughts on this school?
I also heard a major disruption is about to happen in the form of a large construction project.

Mr Ben,

I think it is a good school with strong program for Putonghua and english. However since your kid is going to start secondary, For secondary the school need your kid to have a really strong Putonghua like native. if your kid only has putonghua as second language there might be a problem.
About the construction, it's a minor one not really major disruption since they are not blowing up the school or anything like that. :)

What sort of construction are they going to do? When will this happen? Will the construction affect students? My son will be going there for P.1.

PYP is dead. It won't happen at The ISF Academy with the bilingual teaching setup.
MYP has been rejected. Assessed again. And who knows now whats going to happen..?
DP is not in place yet obviously. The new Director will probably make that his main priority. 30ish Grade 9 students are leaving this year obviously because of lack of DP.

Construction is going to be a major issue next year and starts as soon as school wraps up. Even if you look at the fact that the primary school are losing half the basketball court area it is going to make a big impact on our children's school day! The other half is going to store diggers and stuff! Oh man....
The "talk" is that everyone in the school shares resources. Yup, that's great to say sitting in offices but practically mixing grade 9s with grade 2 and 3?! Ok...
