Dear all,

how should we compare HK academy with other International schools in HK? pros and cons? what type of kids is suitable to HK academy (besides the future campus location issue)?

Hi SMchan,
Hong Kong Academy has developed a reputable name in Hong Kong since it opened. It has a large diversity of students and a very good balance in each class of gender, nationality and enthicity. It's first cohort of students (7) will graduate this year with an IB Diploma. It will be interesting to see what their scores will be. I would not say the school is academically challenging nor does the school push and push their students. Class/teacher ratio is small which is unique for Hong Kong .Teachers/Principal very dedicated and most importantly students are happy and the pastoral care is strong. How to rate the school is difficult: a school's rating is based on many things but the most important rating is a personal one and this can be covered after you ask yourself these questions: Is the school the 'best fit'? Does the school meet my educational requirements for my child? Would my child thrive in this school? Will my child get lost in the school's educational system or will my child succeed academically?
