Interview at AISHK Preparatory

Hi Doraemonj

As I understood it, not everyone requires an interview.
An interview is usually necessary for ESL learners and/or students with learning difficulties. If your child has also returned comprehensive school reports, they don't need your child to come in for an interview.

6 weeks is quite normal isn't it... ESF takes an even longer time from application til results. In fact, it would worry me if a school took a short time 2-3 weeks to review results as it's reflective of their review process.

Just my two cents :-)

Cheers!

Hi Quasimother

Congratulations on getting the offer! So did your child need to go for an interview? I always wonder what do they look for when they interview 3 year olds?!?

Hi Jaysmum

Thank you.

My child was not asked to come for an interview.
As I mentioned before, not all children are asked to attend an interview.
We submitted his paperwork like everyone else and there was a private report submission from his teacher at his current school.

There's really not a lot that they can look for at 3.
Reading and Writing is definitely not a required skill.
We're an English speaking family (from Australia) and our child does "read" and "write" in a way that is typical of an Australian child at 4. He has no problems expressing himself - in fact, he talks non-stop! All his "abilities" must have been reflected in the private report.

Good Luck!

Cheers!

Thanks QM

Actually my son just turned 3 and we'd applied for Reception rather than Preparatory to start in 2011. I rpesume your child will be starting Prepartory in Jan, is there a reason why you did not put him in AIS for the reception year. You mentioned he's attending another school right now.

Hi QM,

Congratulations!

It seems that if both parents are OZ, then no interview is needed. If either one is OZ, even they are English speaking family, the child has to take an interview.
(please correct me if above information is wrong.)

Guess our chance is slim coz the waiting list is very very long.
