Dear all moms,

Could anyone suggest any good international primary schools (in Shatin/Tai Po districts that are with a little more Cantonese / Mandarin, or better to involve a bit more Chinese writing??? (Probably my thinking is too ideal, but please, does anyone have some suggestions??)

Thanks a lot!

You might want to look at Pui Kiu College (Tai Wai). Although it is a local school, I've heard that its teaching approach is very similar to that of international schools. Very creative environment, lots of co-curricular activities, all subjects are conducted in English and Mandarin, not much homework, only one exam a year. They also have a secondary school in the same campus.

I think the new ESF Private Independent School in Ma On Shan has much more putonghua in its curriculum than the other ESF schools. Its the Renaissance College- it has a primary and secondary section.

Thanks gigi and bekyboo44, both of your suggestions are good choices as I've just looked at their websites. And now my immediate action is to register my daughter to a somewhat related kindergarten (I should have also mentioned that my daughter is now only at her pre-school).

I probably register her to ESF Tsing Yi and ICS Kindergarten so as to get her ready for those schools. Any advice on that as well, please??

Thanks you all again!!

Have you ever heard of Nature Education Kindergarten? It is located at Constellation Cove, Tai Po. I visited it before and I was very impressed - "learn through play" teaching approach, great environment, friendly teachers and staffs. They have a mini open day on Dec 2 (Sat), from 11am - 4pm. If you visit, make sure to meet the principal, Ms. Lola. She is very friendly and trueful, and she already gave me some advice on early childhood education. Whatever your choice is, I'd suggest you to visit a few more kindergartens so that you can make comparison.

Hope this helps!

Renaissance College is better than Pui Kui as it is more truly like international school

Pui Kui is say one thing and do another thing type

Thanks gigi and Vrindavan!

One thing I don't really like Yew Chung is the relative high % of local hk students that I afraid it would slower BB's speaking english skill, I don't know it is just my gut feeling. Anyway, thanks gigi.

Could Virndavan please share your experience of Pui Kiu / or anything you heard of it to us?? All I know is that Pui Kiu is a direct susidy school but students at their secondary school are still required to sit in the open exam at F5. And this is also one of my hesitation too, since I believe Pui Kiu's course level is a bit "simpler" than that of the local schools, and wonder if this would reduce the competence of their students in terms of exam scores/results??

Regards

Pui Kiu has mentioned something like "int'l school approach", this caused lots of parents mistaken it to be very like an international school.

From my oberservation, it is still a local school for local students with more NET teachers. plus more activity based learning ??

At primary section
stress more PTH than English

At secondary section
stress more English than PTH

Yes the tuition fee is much lower as it is a DSS school.

It really depends on what the parents' wishes.

Dear all,

Thanks for sharing the information.

Pls forgive my innocent, what is PTH stands for??

And any comment / advice on Christian Alliance P.C. Lau Memorial International School (CAIS) at Kowloon City?

Thanks
