Hello.

I have a multi-faceted question to ask.

I am looking for a recommendation for a doctor that deals with hormonal imbalances.

Also, it is preferable that this doctor has at least some understanding or experience with the fertility tenets of natural family planning (i.e. charting cycles, looking for peaks and troughs in estrogen and progesterone levels) and very ideally they would have some understanding/background with The Creighton Method. http://www.creightonmodel.com/index.html

I am looking for a doctor who is not extremely expensive. My price range for consultation is 500-700 HKD.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know! I really appreciate it!

Have any of you ladies out there who have had problems with infertility or have been treated with fertility treatments discussed with your doctor hormonal issues or was hormonal issues a key in your treatment? Did they take a look at your hormone production prior to starting treatment? If so, can you recommend a doctor who has experience with this?

I use Dr. Kingston Tseng, number 23773323. He is in Austin Road, Kowloon and worked with my OBGYN through my pregnancy. He adjusted hormonal levels to get me pregnant. I tried 3 others before him, I am not sure if he is the best but he is very nice and thoughtful and works hard to help you. Also not too expensive compared to the ones I saw in Central.

Anca,

Thank you very much. I will check into Dr. Tseng. I really appreciate the recommendation. :0)

You could try Central Health (Dr Lucy Lord's practice). I believe they now have a fertility specialist working as a consultant with them. His name escapes me now, but he is/was working at Prince of Wales hospital. Not sure of the consultation fee, but you could always give them a ring to check - 2824 0822.

TSTMUM,

Any ideas what the cost for consultation is with Lucy Lord? Since she's in Central I assume that her fee is probably well above 500-700 HKD?

Thanks

Hey,

I contacted Dr. Tseng but his office says that they specialize in diabetes treatment? Hmmmm....not exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the suggestion, though. :0)

HI again,
I wasn't aware that it was exclusive as that isn't my thing. He does deal with diabetics, but many hormonal imbalances which cause infertility are linked to insulin resistance which seemed to be my issue. I wasn't referred to him for diabetes, but he helped. The receptionists are a little bit inaccessible so you may want to ask for him to call you. Hope it helps!

Consultation fee with Lucy Lord when I was pregnant was around $850, including the ultrasound. I don't know what a standard gynae visit would be.

Thanks Anca,

We called but the receptionists would not give us any other contact information for him--e mail or another number besides the receptionist desk--they said I had to come in and see him first. However, I am in the States right now. If I can find a good doctor who has experience dealing with this in HK I am willing to come back to HK to be treated--otherwise I need to stay a couple extra months in the States--have already been away from my husband for almost 8 weeks now so It would be 16 weeks altogether for me to be fully examined here. I simply wanted to ask him a few questions but the receptionists couldn't understand that. They just kept saying, "Make an appointment and come in and see him." Hmmm.....that won't work now, will it? :0)
