I know the decision is going to infuriate and disappoint a lot of people. The Board probably took into consideration the fact that some parents may or will leave when they made the decision. So neither a list nor provisional leave papers are going to help because neither of them are definite. Furthermore, there is still a long queue of kids waiting to get into the school. My kid was transferred from another IS to GSIS. So I would like to share my experience with others because a lot of the parents may not really know what's involved. (1) Changing school is a major decision and we must not let our emotion affect our decision. (2) Before we can secure a place, we must go through the entire long process (eg. we must "shop around", pay school visits, consider all the relevant factors and make comparision, make applications, go through entrance tests and interviews, get placed on the waiting list and finally get an offer). (3) No school is perfect or superior than others. All have their own strong points and their own problems and weaknesses. Some of them may not be apparent to you until you actually join the school. I am a case in point. I did all the researches, but it never ocurred to me that there would be such a big argument over the redevelopment issue. (4) There are too many students competing for too few IS places. It's not very easy to get admitted into any IS. But once you are in, it's not easy to get out either because there just aren't enough places elsewhere. I am not trying to persuading parents not to leave GSIS because everybody has his own consideration and priority. I just want to say that it's a decision that shouldn't be taken lightly.
