Good local nursery schools in HK island

Wondering which local schools that offer pre-nursery classes (ie for 2 year olds) are good? Location on HK side, preferably in the central/mid levels area but wanchai, cwb, etc ok too. I have heard of St Paul's but that is very famous and competitive - any other ones that are reputable? thanks

I've heard from local friends - Victoria school being extremely popular.

Is Victoria local or international?

Since we are talking about Nursery schools, does it make sense to ask "local" or "international"?

The flavour refers to the curriculum being taught in the school; I dont think Nursery schools follow any national curriculum.

Here are the various locations for Victoria: Nursery & Kindergarten > Campuses > Hong Kong
It is interesting that they call some of them "international" while they dont for some others; no matter, they are a bilingual nursery and kindergarten.

For some people who like to follow a single stream, sure thats what they choose but in general the answer is no.
You can pick what you like and what is appropriate for you and your child.

I sent my kids to a local nursery (Lingnan) followed by a private-local Mandarin school (KCS) followed by an international secondary (KCIS)...

It gets much harder to switch later in age, it is also much harder to switch from international into local but for purposes of Nursery/Kindergarden, there are no real restrictions.

Some nurseries/kindergartens will give students priority when time comes to pick primary, but this is not a general rule. Only some will do this.

My daughter attends Victoria nursery and for me I would classify it local as they use Cantonese as medium of instruction and the international part is only the native language teacher they hire as a co teaceher in each class.

Unfortunately there is no consensus as to what defines international in terms of labeling schools...it is all open to interpretation and so parents need to know what they are looking for rather then just going by the name as that can be quite misleading.

Our three year old attended Wisely Kindergarten on Caine Road, a Cantonese medium nursery and is now at KCS for K1, which is a Mandarin medium kindergarten. We like Wisely a lot - the teachers are very loving and supportive. We only wish it was a Mandarin medium school! My husband is Singaporean, so if we ever move (back) to Singapore, our children will need to go to local schools which use an English/Mandarin curriculum.
