Hi everyone,

My husband and I will be working for the English Schools Foundation and will commence our positions in August 2008. We will of course be bringing our three boys with us. Our eldest son will be 4 in March 2008 and we have just found out that at he won't be able to start school until August 2009 when he is around 5.5yrs! We strongly suspect he is gifted so the sooner he starts school, the better. Can anyone recommend any facilities for the gifted preschooler? Is Clearwater Bay School a good school in terms of catering for the g/t child? Is there any way my son could start school at 4.5yrs?

TIA

1 kid just finished CWBS and is now at KGV and my 2nd kid is still at CWBS. They are pretty flexible in the curriculum and and seem to accommodate a range of learning styles and abilities.

I think the easiest thing would be to email to CWBS and ask about the birth-date thing.

Hi - I would like to understand if you are able to get your kids into the school earlier? Does the school accomodate what you are looking for?
I understand that ESF do not allow grade skipping but split them into different groups for learning?
I am also a bit worried for my kid as he is an advance learner if the school will cater for such kids.

As I understood it, you enter at the same age but if they find your child to be ahead, they'll allow him to skip a grade or two at ESF. Got this off a mum from my son's school who's older son has been allowed to skip a grade as they realised that he is gifted.

Thanks much Spockey. Appreciate it. Then i am more relieve. I'll let the teacher be the judge but i wanted re-assurance that they will not hold him back if they find him ahead.
