My daughter gets offer of Reception from FIS and CDNIS. FIS seems stronger on academic and international population, CDNIS has better school facilities and Mandarin education. I would like my daughter to have (1) high academic standard and (2) happy school life with good discipline and conducts.

Can anyone share more of the two schools so that I can have a better picture? Thanks very much!

at the end of the day you have to decide if you want your daughter to spend time learning French or Mandarin and what is yours families priority. both teach the IB, but I believe CDNIS teaches it all the way, whilst FIS only teaches it at the secondary level (Form 6). they are similar, but also very very different,i am sure you can find (1) and (2) at both....

Hi
I agree with lesliefu, they are both excellent schools and have good language basis. We have our daughter at the French School and she has been very happy there. It's fantastic to be surrounded by native speaking french as well as learning the language, it has really assisted her understanding.
We chose the fench school international stream in the end for the diveristy of ethnicity it offered. In my daughters class of 24 students, there are 11 different nationalities represented. I also thought it was a good balance between academia and play.
Good luck with your decision making.

Thanks Leslie and Seaprincess. I like FIS more because of the academic achievement and the diversity of peers. However, my daughter likes CDNIS more because of the beautiful school environment and facilities. For us, we have doubt on the academic results of CDNIS which is not published as FIS.

Seaprincess, can you share more on the good and bad sides of FIS?

After reading sea princess's PM, I most probably will select FIS. I also found that FIS is the first school launching IB program since 1988 in Hong Kong.

Are there any more parents of FIS to share what you like or hate of this school?

Many thanks

15 votes, 60% on FIS and 40% on CDNIS. Many thanks for the participation. More people are voting for CDNIS. Can anyone share why?

Also, we have one more concern. Since we are local Chinese, we don't want our daughter being incapable on Chinese. Anyone know the Mandarin Chinese level of FIS which will be started in P2 onward?

We visited the FIS School Fair today. Our feeling were just ok, not as good as we expected. The school fair had many activities for different ages of children and a lot of people there. Only some local kids & families, that is good because we want a real international school. More good things include big theater, good indoor swimming pools, many playground, etc.

However, when we were walking around, French language conversation were dominated. FIS should have a balance between the two streams by increasing the no. of class in International stream to at least 50%/50%, if not same as GSIS (which has more students in English stream than German stream). Also, the school facilities seem lack of good maintenance, when comparing to CDNIS & CIS. FIS needs to do more on upgrading their facilities.

Any other parents be FIS today? You can share your view here.

interviews

I'd waitlisted my child (born October 2008) for the reception class of the international stream at the FIS since she was 2 weeks old. Would anyone be able to tell me when I will find out she will get an interview and when these interviews will take place? Many thanks!
