Experience with Kiangsu Chekiang International Primary School?

My son will be starting K1 at KCS (local stream) next week and we are considering transferring our daughter to KCIS International Primary School. My daughter is in Primary 3 at True Light, and we would like her to learn more English and Mandarin. Does anyone have any experience with attending or transferring into KCIS International Primary? In particular, I'm interested to know whether the teachers are Native English speaking, and if the school has a good curriculumn. I'm anxious to get her into an English speaking school since we may be moving back to the U.S. in a few years and her English skills are slipping due to the low English exposure at True Light. The other option is to waitlist at an ESF. I'm not sure whether the quality of the education is the same or exceeds that of KCIS? Thanks in advance for your comments!

I know a friend who has transferred her daughter from Marymount to P4 in KCIS last year and is very happy with the improvement in both the English and Chinese standards of her daughter after the transfer to KCIS.

Our son was at KCIS for international (morning) AND main (afternoon).

English in the international is fine, but don't count on picking up much chinese.

The main section was much more educational, but obviously that was for Chinese.

We speak English at home, so the latter was more valuable to us.

Sounds like you want what the international offers... so was fine.

The truth about KCIS.

I read with interest your questions about KCIS. I think its sad that parents are completely misinformed about whats happening in some of the schools in HK. A good friend of mine is a teacher who worked in the primary section for a number of years and gave me a good inside view as to exactly whats going on. He was not at all impressed by the way the management run the school and treat the staff. Because its a 'private school' it answers to nobody and gets away with a lot. Recently I heard that the head teacher had hired someone with no class experience or FORMAL QUALIFICATION. How would you feel if YOUR child was taught by someone with no experience or qualification. It makes a joke of education. I wonder if the parents know? I suspect not. For some reason management refuse to have any kind of parent/teacher association. Parents are paying close to $6000 per month in school fees. The children have no proper computer room (they work on unreliable laptops),music room or art room. There is no gymnasium for the kids and p.e is often cancelled when favor is given to 'main section' students for playground space. Compare that to what ESF or other Intl. schools offer. KCIS is old, run down with shabby class rooms. Theres no way a so called head teacher can efficiently run three campuses. Its a sham that current and potential parents need to know about.
