ESF waiting list

My child was placed about 250th on waiting list for Bradbury. That has to be bottom, right? Is there any chance we get offered place in the next two to three year? Does anyone know how much WL decrease on average over one year? At one point do you just give up?

We had friends who were around 300th on the waiting list, but I can't remember if they were QBS or BS. You might check the school's annual report to get some idea of the annual turnover. I don't know if it is in every schools annual report, but it was in Glenealy's, so maybe BS might also have it?

I have a friend who was 120 last year on Bradbury waiting list (Y1) and is now 80. Please note that any siblings, etc. with priority can push you down on the list. E.g. A child gets accepted in Y4 and the sibling can get priority in the Y1 year level, pushing those without priority down. I would think you're chances are very slim, and I wouldn't count on lower primary ... I have friends in the top 30 still waiting for more than a year ...

I wonder....do some schools' wait lists decrease faster than others? I mean, I think which catchment area has fastest turnover. We could move, i suppose. We dont like our apartment much, in any case. I wonder if moving a different part inHong Kong it makes a different.

You could also consider other non-ESF schools that are scattered nearby Bradbury.
The closest being Rosaryhill, but there are many many more to choose from.

I even applied to private ESF. If you want to apply to most International Schools you will be on wait list. Unless you are very lucky. Keep calling them every two weeks. That is what I did since my child is also special needs she is borderline ADHD. And the school agreed to observe her so that is the first step. The wait is at least 3 years even for SEN and the ESF schools that accept SEN can only take in 21 students in tier 1 to 4. This is for ESF Beacon Hill.

If you have 400,000HKD you may want to apply to Discovery College. It is on wait list but it is shorter. We are on number 39 and 40 according to the debenture nomination.

Thank you Howard. Rosaryhill looks good but we want secular education for our daughter. Many schools in HK run by churche. So strange for my family.
But thank you for your thought.

Thank you for all replies. We are trying very hard to learn our child Cantonese, and ourselves, to go local system. But teaching methodology very old-fashioned. I saw the text books in one local school and could not believe my eyes. I almost laugh. We should never have moved here if we knew school so bad and so hard to admit to. I wish I had not given up my job to come here. Big mistake I think and wife think. Our kid is happy though wherever she goes we hope!

Delia School of Canada in Taikoo Shing seems to have a big waiting pool for ESF and transition is quite smooth from what I have seen.
