ESF vs international school, especially Kennedy

[rani]

kayleelu,

There is a new principal coming in in August and hopefully they'll be changes for the better. During our years we saw the school deteriorate and fantastic teachers leaving because of the leadership. Yes I'm sure there are some teachers who teach with their hearts, but there a number who are enjoying the cushy ESF package and do the bare minimum.

thanks shri and esfmum for all your briefing.

i feel trapped in the hk school system (which includes int'l systems). its so limited and stressful in all senses, seems like our new modern life breeds lazy minds every where. when we thought intl school system is the answer, but then its really not. i guess i should call it the money system.

and one wonder why every local mom will beg for a good local school placement waiting in line overnight; probably only those school do really teach and bring significant people of the future.

i still have a day to decide to accept the offer or reject the ks. plzzz opinions so i dont ruin my children's time and effort, i do have expectations.

btw, is there anything good (academically speaking) besides arts and drama plus green education at kennedy school?

can i say the kennedy school favors debenture based students as they mentioned this words, which i had no idea what it meant at first. if we pay whatever, what is the benefit we will be getting back academically?

they did mention there is a long waiting list, is this fake?

hi wkyfong i know yr post is dd back in 2012. what did u do and where did u go at the end?

seems unreasonable and pushy from the kennedy school. they might have problems if this is the case.

i m having a similar pushing attitude from the kennedy school saying if i dont return all the forms and finalize the payment by tomorrow noon, the space assigned to my children will be gone to the next wait list.

but from the application date till the space offer were only a week all together, despite a long wait list. the focus were my debenture or payment or deposit or so must be in their esf bank account in 3days from offering else the place will be cancelled.

i only can guess probably the management's heart is focused on money rather then our children education.

can anyone share the curriculum in kennedy school?

There are a lot of good teachers in Kennedy. And with new management falling into place, I can think that things will be better.

Unfortunately, all across the board, there are more students / parents wanting to get into the international schools than there are places available, so the schools can get away with the pressure that they put on parents to make decisions.

Best of luck!
