Category 1 are English speaking children, is that right? If so, we are category 1. In the presentation we went to they said that they interview 220 children but they can only offer 180 places, which means that some people (due to their randomly allocated number) will be in the group that are the difference between 180 and 220 (around 40 people) and they will go onto a waiting list. (The figures I'm quoting are from memory so I may not be 100% accurate). He said that they then wait until people send their acceptances/declines back and if there if any places become available they are offered to the people on the waiting list. The higher up the list you are, the more chance of being offered a place. Hope that makes sense. He actually used the word "unlucky" when describing the people that would end up on that list. Lol!
I've spoken to other friends who went to the presentation and they got given this same information. I guess we were just unfortunately low on the list when they were allocating the random numbers. I have other friends who didn't even get an interview so we were fortunate to be given the opportunity in the first place. Anyway, what will be will be, I was just curious to hear from other people who may have been wait listed.
