ESF Corporate Surety Scheme

Hi all, i will be transferring to HK this summer and is actively looking for an international school for my 6 years old (currently studying in Y2 in England). I have done my research on the internet and have some questions about ESF.
1. Are all the ESF schools equally good?
2. Do you know the pros and cons between Beacon Hill School and Kowloon Junior School?
3. About the Corporate Surety Scheme, has anyone here done that and it was successful in securing a place.

Appreciate any advice you could give me. Thanks, Viv

My daughter has 2 friends who got CSS places, in a different catchment though. Once they offer, you have to commit fir one year before requesting a transfer to your catchment area if not given a place in your area. I am not familiar with Kowloon side schools. I assume they are quite Asian, more than on the island. The most expat-y ESF is Bradbury.

Thanks Mom2Sofie&Twins. Do you also know if I go with the CS scheme, would I still need to provide a home address in the application? My plan was to find a home after we have secured a school. Thanks in advance.

Viv2011, for the CS you need to let them know which area you plan on staying and they will try and secure a place at the school in your zone.

I've heard both Beacon Hill and Kowloon Jr are good schools. I went to Kln Jr :)

Regarding your PM. Best to post your questions directly on the forums and we can all take a stab at them.

Also, don't worry to much about Chinese International. It's a very popular school amongst the affluent locals and its not easy to get in.

Hi Rani,

Could you share more on what you know about CIS? It is my dream school for my son, a dream that is hard to come true but I will definitely give it a shot. I am confident of my son's english and mandarin skills by the time he interviews for CIS, but on top of his performance and the fact that we are both professionals with advanced degree and are earning a decent income so tuition and even the debenture should be no problem, what more do they look for from the kids, parents? thanks!

Thank you for all responses. I just came across Kellett in Fokfulam. Is this school reputable and has good academic quality? I am not familar with Forfulam and the location of the primary school, please advise if it would be easy to get to. I imagine I will live in Fokfulam if this is the school that we will secure a place.

@Rani, thanks for your advice on the two Kowloon ESF schools I asked about : )

Thanks in advance

People spent really long times on waiting lists for Kellett. Some are on there from very early age. I imagine it would be very hard to get in, so definitely have other options. ESF Kennedy is in Pokfulam. It's the largest ESF school on the island so woulddefinitely try that too if you choose Pokfulam.

Thank you.

My fingers crossed the company will do the CSS application for me. In addition, I am wondering how many non ESF schools I should also apply for? Anyone here who can share your experience and suggestion?

Viv2011, when you said non-ESF schools you mean other international schools and not the local schools, right? Other than ESF, I have these IS on my list right now - Chinese IS, Singapore IS, Canadian IS, ISF. Well it is still a couple of years away before I need submit my boy's application so the list will continue to grow for sure~

p.s. I haven't totally given up hope on the local stream but if you think competition at IS is insane enough you would find the good local competition is even more fierce and involves a lot of manipulation!
