Neighbours reported hearing the teacher from King George V School banging on flat doors in the early hours of the morning and called security, according to police.
A security guard found Rodda lying unconscious in the 21st floor lift lobby of Laguna Verde, tower five, at 4.22am.
"He was murmuring when the security guard arrived to check," a police officer said. "He then developed cramps and passed out before paramedics arrived."
Rodda was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital and pronounced dead at 5.32am.
Police found suspected illegal drugs on Rodda and in his apartment, but could not confirm the cause of death. However, they said no one else was involved and an investigation was under way.
