Chances of entry into Kellett

Hi, I applied to Kellet late (my son was already over 2 years old when I put in the application) and when I last called at the beginning of March, he was at around place 60. Does anyone think there would be chance that he would get into Reception this coming August?
 
I applied for Kellet as well. From the application acknowledgement letter, they start interview in Jan every year for the coming school year. Did you go through the interview process?

Kellett don't interview - students get their place on the basis of the waiting list. They meet with child after they allocate a place but its not really an interview per se....
 
Thanks KL8. I heard lots of good things about this school - good academic results, quality teachers, etc. Unfortunately I heard the waiting list is very long and I only applied when my kids are 1 yr and 9 mths old. Their admission should be in August 2013. Not sure what to expect on the admission process.
 
I think you should consult the school about this. We were offered and accepted a place there end of January this year to start reception this August. We applied when our child was about 10 days old. A month before we received the offer we were I think somewhere 80 to 90 on the actual list (we have no corporate debenture or sibling). I think they send out the first round of offers in January and then some more a few months later. Just ask the school about whether all the places for aug have been accepted so far. Some people on the wait list may leave Hong kong or have already accepted places in other schools as well so I suspect the list keep moving between now and August and over the course of the school year. Also if your child is born Sep to Dec it may be worth checking what class your child will enter at if he secures a place after this year because they're changing the class age group from Jan - Dec to Sep - Aug after this year.
 
Jolly - 2013 admission should be a little bit easier, with the new building opening up in Kowloon Bay.
 
ESFMum, Do you know if they accept kids who can speak Cantonese? Like ESF, if we indicate our kids can speak Cantonese there will be no chance to get into the school. Does this also applicable to Kellet? Many thanks. Jollybean

We're not at the school, and am sorry don't know. I did hear they have a really good ESL program and do support kids who are struggling with English.
