CDNIS Y1 interview?

Hi, my son is in Prep now (equivalent to Y1 at ESF).

There was only one other child in the interview, although I have heard that there can be quite a few more. They want to see a couple of things. First if the child is detressed after leaving their parents (parents are not in the room with them) and if they do get upset, if/how the recover. Second, to see how the play with other children.

My son said that they read a story and had to draw a picture. There were blocks with letters on them that he has to put in order. He has to write his name. I think there was something else but for the life of me, I can't remember.

The interviewer was a teacher. It actually ended up being his teacher this year. It took about 35 minutes.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply~.
My son is going to take this test next Saturday..I heard there will be reading and writing also for year 1 interview..

i see little chance for my son now..--;;

Just wondering how old your son is. As I mentioned before, kids that are turning 5 this year will be in Prep and I am certain that there is no reading and only spelling his name. If he is going into Year 1 (equivalent to Year 2 at ESF schools) then maybe some reading and writing. It was a very relaxed interview and the teachers are really amazing. Good luck.

^^

My son is turning 6 in May, and we applied for year 1 class 2009/2010.

According to the assessment schedule posted on the CDNIS web page, there already were interviews for year 1, so.. here i am, asking for some sharing of interview experiences of this year.^^;;

Thank you for wishing us a good luck!

Have a nice weekend~~:)
