Canadian International School - Waitlist

No, we did not buy a debenture, and I know of many non-Canadians like us who did not have debentures. But priority does go to Canadian citizens.

I spoke to the school the other day. They told me the priorities were 1) siblings, 2) passport, 3) debenture. They also note how well your kid did on the assessment playing a role also, I gather after those other priorities are run through.

i'm in the same situation too! waitlist with no canadian passport, no siblings and no debenture!!! i rang them up, and there were 400+ applicants, 80 places, and 160 on the waiting list! was told my son is disadvantaged as he has none of the above! it's a tough tough process...

My daughter was accepted and put on the waitlist and is still waiting whilst two other little girls (her friends) - both non-Canadians and with no siblings at the school - were recently offered places. Unless my daughter did really badly on the interview relative to the other girls (or they have debentures), it would appear that the Canadian passport is utterly useless as both my husband and my daughter are Canadians. It was also our second time interviewing, my daughter being rather shy at her pre-reception interview last year (but my daughter is a late baby, so to be expected really). Not quite sure what one needs to do to get into this school, perhaps blind luck?
