we just got to hong kong and our daughter was born in nov. 2002, and i can't get her into school anywhere, except for a few places like kingston, yew chong and isf. i've seen nice comments about isf here but we'd rather live on kowloon side coz i like the bigger flats with more space and facilities. can anyone share their experiences with kingston school? they seem to be nice and our daughter speaks mandarin and english so it seems to be a nice fit, although they seem to be a lot smaller than other schools. many many thanks in advance! :)

Kingston

Hi Gloria,

I have a bilingual child and I also looked at the three schools you mentioned. In the end, I gave up on the bilingual part of the equation and sent him to Japanese International School (JIS) - English Section up in Taipo.

Another mom on geokids highly recommended the school and after visiting, I had to agree. The parents and kids are all very friendly. It is a PYP (IBO) programme like Kingston. It has much better grounds and facilities than either Kingston or Yew Cheung. Air quality is a big issue for me because my children have allergies. (I work in Kowloon Tong and walk past Yew Cheung every day. The bus exhaust and congestion outside the school are just awful.)

That said, everybody has their own issues and preferences and what is right for one child/family is not necessarily right for another.

Many thanks Anchor. After lots of tries we eventually got our daugther into ISF, a bit far since we live on the Kowloon side and ISF is located in Cyberport, but they do have a very new building with lots of facilities and their Chinese education is strong. Thanks for your insight anyways. Take care.
