Can a school rescind a Placement?

I had a talk with the lady in charge of my son's kindergarten, whom I informed that my son would not attend his kindergarten graduation ceremony as we will be overseas, and since he will only be in school a few days in July, I intend to stop his school by end June. I was then informed that if I "withdraw" my child by the end of June, the primary school (which is affiliated with the kindergarten) will have to be notified that my son is not a "graduate" of the kindergarten, and therefore my son's Primary 1 placement might be in jeopardy.

Is primary placement contingent on a kindergarten diploma? Doesn't seem right. We have already put down our deposit plus acceptance fee to the primary school last year and nowhere in the acceptance letter does it stipulate a condition that my son has to produce the diploma to attend. Can they legally turn us away for not "finishing up" those few school days and for not attending a graduation ceremony? Anyone have this happen to them before? Any advice/comments appreciated.

Most schools will have some sort of minimum attendance policy - if that is not met, the child could technically be held back or expelled.

There might even be a contractual issue between you and the kindergarten that you're obliged to pay for the July fees, even if your kid attends or not ....

Why not call the primary school and see if this is speculation or just a threat on part of the kindergarten to ensure that they get the last month's fees.
