i heard that this year's application is abit different from the previous years, where your application will not be limited by the catchment area. Am I right?

Well last year they started centralizing applications and they were sent to the main office on Stubbs Rd. This way they can track the number of applications from each area adjust catchment areas if necessary. Is this what you mean?

As all previous years, the ESF school that you intend to apply to must be in your catchment area. Students are not allow to apply to any ESF school as they wish. But what I heard is that this year, students can apply directly to any ESF school. Is this true?

Hi, I don't think that's true. If you look at the ESF website, all applications are to be sent to a centralized location and not to individual schools.

This way they can monitor the demand for each zone and revise the catchment areas if necessary. For example now with the new residential complex Bel-Air in Cyberport, there was a surge in applications in this area. ESF responded by changing the catchment areas for Kennedy school - South Horizons and the Outlying Islands now fall under Bradbury School. I believe the school zones on Kowloon side were also revised last year.
