Anyone heard of Harrow School of Hong Kong?

I was told it's a new international school opening next year, and it will be the first international boarding school in HK?

Boarding is only in the secondary school. They have sold all their debentures for the next year.

Wow. How is it that there seems to be a gross shortage of supply of int'l school relative to the demand here in HK?

Just 5 years ago, there was a major oversupply and a number of school (very famous names) almost went bust. The demand for such schools is mostly from expats and they can disappear very quickly. One little banking crisis, or a little SARS scare and you will see expats scatter :-)

International schools have become very popular with Local families in HK, and not just expats. This is one of the main reasons for the shortage. I have heard there are a number of local families applying to Harrow.

If you go to the babykingdom forum you read the same things. International schools are extremely popular with local families too. ESF has 75% of Perm HKID holders, and I am sure there are other examples (to some extent). There is simply not enough supply to cater for both groups, as it seems.

I was surprised to read how many were applying to Harrow, and their fees are high compared to the other International schools
