Any opinions on Renaissance College (in Ma On Shan) or the IB Programme?

Is anyone sending their kids to RCHK's Primary School? If yes, what do you think of the school? And what do you think of their Chinese programme? Or the IB Programme in general?

As a Canadian Chinese family, we want our son to be bilingual, i.e., fluent in speaking/reading/writing English and Chinese (Mandarin), I heard that the IB curriculum requires the children to study a second language; and I think RCHK has 4 lessons a week on Chinese(?) at the primary levels, is this true? How would the level of the Chinese (Mandarin) taught in the IB programme compare to that taught in, say, English Medium Schools?

I'd appreciate any opinions or comments on RCHK or the IB programme.

THANKS!

Hi, my son is currently studying P1 at the RCHK. He has Chinese lesson every day each session lasts for 40 mins. We are required to purchase chinese books and workbooks for my son to use during class other than the monthly school fee we pay.

So far, my son manage to come back and say a few chinese phrases in putonghua.

Unlike other ESF schools, RCHK does emphasize alot more on Putonghua, I must admit.

Daily Mandarin

Hi. My son goes to an ESF school (Clearwater Bay) and they will be introducing daily Mandarin lessons in January for all classes. I believe there are other ESF schools also doing this already (Sha Tin, Kowloon Junior and Beacon Hill) with more schools joining the program next year.
