Acupunture for infertility ..need help

Hi Prag,
I can highly recommend Dr Helen He from Holistic Health in Central for fertility acupuncture. I'm 31 and we'd been TTC for about 5 months...not long I know(!) but I was getting impatient. I visited Dr He on day 1 or 2 of my cycle and fell pregnant that same cycle I had the treatment! Not sure if it was all coincidental and a bit of luck but am now 20 weeks pg and due in Feb. I went once a week for 3 weeks. I genuinely think it helped blood flow to the uterus and assisted ov etc. Some points hurt a little but overall it's a very relaxing experience and perhaps that was as beneficial as the needle treatment itself. It's worth a try! You can get a 5 session pkg for $3800HKD which is covered by some health insurance policies. I believe this is quite a bit cheaper than Dr Troy Sing.

Thank you for your detailed information. I will definitely give it a try. Also, I read on some forums about dr ck sum (former assistant of Troy Sing) . People say that his clinic is not very posh and lavish but he does the job. He charges 400HKD for one session. Have you heard of him?

Thank you Rani... Do you have any idea about dr ck sum. I have read he is the former assistant of Troy Sing. Troy Sing is too expensive for us.

I haven't heard of Dr CK Sum, but if he's trained by Troy Sing, he should be good.

I checked with my friend and the person she saw is Gianna from IMI, who she said was good. However, she couldn't remember the charges.

I have seen Troy Sing for a few months but then stopped. He is pretty famous among the expat community. Whether he is good or not, I can't tell. He is expensive and his hours are rather limited which doesn't really for me as I have a full time job...

a lot of people say acupuncture helps. I guess there is no harm trying!

For anyone who is deciding whether to see Troy Sing for the first time or not for acupuncture treatment, please read....

My personal experience with Troy Sing is unfortunately not great!
I am not telling people not to see him at all as things may have changed now and of course, everyone's experience is different. I felt he did know his stuff. But if you decide to try him out, then I would highly recommend making sure you ask the right questions before you start treatments with him.

The main questions I would ask are:

What exactly will happen at each session and how long?
(i.e. picture taken of tongue, measure blood flow with machine, taking pulse, the actual acupuncture)
I was rushed in and out of rooms at times and sometimes I was left in rooms without being told how long I had to wait.

Who will be performing the acupuncture every session?
(i.e. will it be Troy Sing inserting the needles every time?)
For my sessions, I had students inserting the needles without being supervised in the same room by Troy Sing after the first 2 sessions and it occurred to me after that they may not have been properly qualified to do it. If I'm paying for Troy Sing, I expect Troy Sing to do the treatment every time. I didn't even see or get a consultation with Troy Sing for a few sessions.

How will they monitor progress and how often will they give you feedback on progress?
For my sessions, I was given no feedback of progress or changes after 3 months. Whenever I tried asking, I was always given the same answer....can't tell until after 6 months of treatment. They did not tell me their diagnosis or where my imbalances were (like they always do when you see a Chinese TCM doc) despite taking pictures of my tongue, checking my pulse and measuring my blood flow every session.
They did not really seem to alter the prescription herbs despite telling them I thought I was experiencing some negative side effects.

The clinic was very busy when I went and it felt as if they were getting patients in and out as fast as possible. I don't mind that too much if they were able to give me some feedback each session, but to leave each session without being given any explanation even of what herbs and how they would help me does not seem worth the money.

With the lack of feedback, no consultation received (apart from the 1st visit) and allowing students to perform the acupuncture treatment unsupervised, I stopped the expensive treatments.

I see they have a new website now and they have separated consultation fees for herbal and acupuncture treatment.
