6-month wait for place in school

From Friday's SCMP

More than 70 per cent of applicants to international schools have waited less than six months before being admitted, according to the first city-wide government survey.

The study on international school demand was commissioned last year by the Census and Statistics Department as the government came under pressure from foreign chambers of commerce and expatriate groups to build more schools.

The findings are set to complicate the debate over the provision of international school places and reinforce the government position that there is no serious shortage of international school places.

Does this seem accurate? There are still several members without a P1 place, and are enrolled at P1 classes at kindergartens and tutorial centres.

The story does not specify which grade. I assume they did not check for specific grades.
This confirms my personal observation which is P1 is the only grade that is extremely hard to get into while admission gets much easier in later years.
