Hi Everyone

Does anybody know if there is a vacancy in a international primary school for a 6 years old boy? I heard that the expat's kids can't go to the local school.

I also have contacted 8 major international school but not much luck. We are in Australia and will move to HK for work in a couple of weeks.

Any advice will be much appreciated!

Many thanks
John

Expat kids can go to a local school. However, it will be a challenge if your child doesn't understand Cantonese and will require extra tutoring help with the language and homework. It is a big commitment. A 6 year old will be in P2 and you can check with some of the preschools if they have a P2 class. I believe Woodlands was planning on starting one. They have a new school on Caine Rd and may have space. Woodland Pre-Schools

Also have a read through this list of alternative schools

All the local school will have Chinese subject. However, we have Chinese local schools and English local schools. Most of the English local schools will teach most of the subjects in English and teach Chinese in Cantonese or Mandarin.

Some English primary schools will run both local and overseas curriculum. You might visit the school in open day.

For example, PLK CKY, Tsung Tsin Primary schools (Intl Junior School Section)...etc.

One Seat

Because of a family move , there is one seat for a six year old available at The Harbour School. Contact Tisha at Admissions ([email protected]). No promise that it will still be available when you contact her.

school suggestions

Will have a try but honestly school vacancy is the problem to most of the expats with kids

Its problem to find international school in HK. You should try

1. Delia school of Canada
2. Korean International School
both are located in Taikoo Shing. Both schools are generally accomodative through out the year. It would be good to park your child here, till you find school of your choice. Its even good idea to continue your child's education in this school for few years.

Hope this suggestion helps..
