Any ex-Dubai families out there?

We have just been advised that we are moving to HK in one month so have not had the opportunity to plan for schooling. Should I need to I will home school my 8-year-old son - temporarily! What I would like to know in the meantime is whether there are any ex-Dubai parents using this forum, particularly parents who may have sent their children to DESS. If so, I'd greatly appreciate your comments on similar HK schools. Feeling a lot like this at the moment -

School places are tight and you really need to speak to your employer to see if they will offer you any assistance in finding a school place. See if they have access to any debentures.

DESS seems to be a British school. I assume they are following National Curriculum?

Schools you can look at are Kellett, GSIS, ESF (which is now PYP), Anfield, Harrow

Thank you for responding. Yes, DESS is a British School but we are open to IB etc. We are applying to Kellett, Hong Kong Academy and ESF. Fortunately we have a temporary solution for a January start at one of the 'in-between' schools with the hope of getting into another (one of our preferred) at the start of the 2013/14 academic year. These schools are the bane of our lives (whilst we try to get in) the world over! We are with a big international company - without debentures.

Hi there DXB2HK! We are ex-Dubai and will be 2 years in HK this March. Our son, now age 7 went to JESS, Jumeirah for FS1 and FS2. Kellett School, located at Pokfulam will have the same curriculum as DESS. Coincidentally, DESS and ESF primary have similar coloured top (red check). Our son currently goes to an ESF school (IB PYP) but we are currently looking for a move to another school. Feel free to PM me.

We have managed to get ourselves sorted out, thank you. Our son is at The Harbour School until the end of this calendar year and will then be moving to the new Kellett campus in Kowloon. Schools sorted, house sorted, now all I need to do is sort out my heart rate with these hills! Too used to flat, desert living...
