Best schools for special needs?

How about the Jockey Club Sarah Roe School in Kowloon? It's part of the ESF system and the catchment area is all of HK, I believe.

I have two daughters - aged 3 and 1. I will need to apply for primary for my 3 year old next year to start in 2013 and in true HK fashion, I'm starting to think about it now. My 1 year old has special needs - she has a form of dwarfism which also affects her hand function and possibly mobility (it's hard to tell at this stage). I want to put them into the same school - so I want to know which schools are best for children with special needs? I need a school which is wheelchair accessible, and is willing to make some adaptions for my daughter who will possibly be half the height of her peers. If they can also offer services such as therapy at the school or an aide for my daughter if needed, that will be a bonus. I was planning to send them to ESF as my husband went there and so it should theoretically be easier for us to get in. We are closest to Quarry Bay, but I know that Bradbury has had other students with dwarfism already and so may be better equipped? But I'm not really sure...

Anyone have any experiences with primary schools and special needs??

Yes, I am in your shoes. We moved to Hong Kong in June. Currently both my children are going to Watchdog Early Education Centre Jordan and HK side too. For OT, ST, PT, MT plus group therapy classes. My girl is 4 she also goes to ESF Wu Kai Sha without support. I am still looking for a school for my son who is 5 and unfortunately we have gotten the 3rd non acceptance letter. So still looking for kindness of stranger to give my son a chance. Both are on wait list at ESF beacon hill and Hong Lok Yuen at the moment.

Definitely Harbour School

Hi ladies,

I can definitely recommend the Harbour School in Kennedy Town. It is a wonderful school overall, based on the American system with dedicated teachers and small classes. However, it also specializes in catering to children with all types (!!!) of special needs. My little boy has autism and goes to their sister school TCI in the same building. The Harbour School is a few floors down and would probably be more suitable for your little girl....I know of at least one other little girl with dwarfism attending there, she rode the school bus with my son when we were still living on HK side. I know they still have some spots available. Just let me know if you need more info, good luck! :)

I think I know the same little girl that you are talking about. We live on the opposite side of the island and it is a bit of a commute out there - but that girl's mother (if it is indeed the same girl, chances are it is!) does talk very highly of the school...
