My son is going to K1 in Aug 2013. He got accepted into Victoria bilingual program k1 (English/putonghua), Ming Wai international school (English/putonghua) and Starters (English only). We are still waiting for ESF and KCIS letter for an interview.

My goal is for him to learn English and Putonghua, and in an International school environment or non local mainstream school that focus more on creative thinking and sports. I am not really into the local school where it's purely academics and way too much homework with no free time for sports or other after school activities.

ESF would be an affordable option for primary 1 and above, although my first choice would be CIS. I know it's almost impossible to get into CIS.

My question is: given we want to get into ESF primary, the better approach would be to go to Esf kindergarten. Assuming if he gets admitted to ESF kindergarten, I am considering doing say taking Morning class in Esf and say taking afternoon class in Victoria (given its bilingual program) or another English/mandarin school. Would that be too much for a 3 year old boy?

I have read a lot of research indicating that full time kindergarten is better than half day. I wonder if I "design" my own full day class by going to an English one in the morning and Eng/mandarin one in the afternoon, would that be beneficial to my son, or would it be way too stressful for him?

Currently he only takes nap say 3-4 times a week. Not everyday. But if he does do the am and pm class mon to fri, he might nap a bit during the lunch break in between.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Also if anyone have any comments on any of these schools listed that would be much appreciated. Thank you.

As a teacher who has taught kids that attended two different schools, I would just say that first semester the kid is adapting their body to the new environment, the way it comes out in class...sleepy heads or naughty behavior...second semester they are ok.

As for nap in between schools...normally it is saved for lunch time in the car...
