No place in ESF school

Does anyone have problem not able to send their kids to school in Hong Kong? We'll arrive in HK 30th Nov '08 & was asked to submit our kids application on the 1st Dec '08 in the school zone. My kids suppose to continue their term 2 intake in Jan '09 in yr 2 & 3. What happens if the school has no place? Will my kids misses their school for the whole semester or two?

i should think your children have a good chance of getting into an esf school. Christmas is always a time when a few families depart the SAR.

do you know which esf catchment area you will fit into once you arrive?
your kids might not get into the school that you fall into, but at least they will be at an esf school that is easily transferable.

have you considered to applying to other schools just in case?

We'll be staying in Four Season Serviced apartment which is the Peak school catchment area. We planning to enrol them in Peak school since we are staying in the school zone. Any recommendations in regards of school for other options. My kids are studying british curriculum in yr 2 & 3. Thank you Dimsum mum for your reply.

I don't think you'll have a problem getting a place either. Our son's class a new child started in his class today and another 2 weeks ago. You don't have to wait until Jan to start school. Get them in ASAP. Also with the current economy, there will be more spaces in schools. Have already heard of a couple families leaving.

Really. I really do hope so. I dont mind sending them to school right away even only for the remaining 2 weeks of school.
