my 5 yr old has been expressing an interest in taking madarin lessons. i'd like to enroll him in a class that is casual and fun while giving him some good fundamental vocabulary, etc.--preferably in central or midlevels and with other children. any idea where i can find such a program?

Just had a look at Better Chinese website and they include arts/crafts, stories and songs in their program. They're located in Causeway Bay.

Not a parent but an "Auntie" and have heard fabulous reviews about A Better Chinese classes. My nephew is 7yo from the USA and will be spending the summer with me here in HK. I signed him up for an afternoon group lesson.
Also, he has been using A Better Chinese textbooks in his Manadarin lessons in the USA for about 2yrs now!

I thought that I would report back the experience my nephew had at "A Better Chinese."
He had a fabulous time. His class was a mix of local and expat kids there were 4 students total (including my nephew).
The days when he didn't have lesson he still wanted to go - I owe this all to his teacher Ms. Liu as she had him eager to learn more and more.
Lucky I was able to buy a DVD and their website offered activities that kept him intrigued outside of his lesson.
